VIDEO: Cameras Caught UAB Head Coach Trent Dilfer Getting Extra Handsy With Opposing Coach After Big Loss

On Saturday, the University of Alabama Birmingham Blazers hosted the Tulane Green Wave and suffered an embarrassing 20 -71 loss. However, what head coach Trent Dilfer did to opposing coach Jon Sumrall after the game has everyone talking.

Towards the end of the game, Tulane entered victory formation and planned to kneel out the rest of the game. However, Dilfer decided to call two timeouts to slow down the process.

Of course, the decision made no sense because there was no reason to keep the teams out on the field any longer than necessary.

With every game, the two head coaches met on the field to change handshakes and a few words after the last whistle. That’s when cameras caught a heated conversation between Dilfer and Sumrall.

Dilfer also got strangely handsy, touching Sumrall’s face and cheeks multiple times, which made for a bizarre sight.

The conversation ended with what looked like a pretty friendly hug, but the whole interaction was very awkward.

You can bet some words were changed about the unnecessary timeouts taken, which likely made tensions pretty high between the two.

Trent Dilfer Is In His Second Season As Head Coach

Dilfer had a mediocre career as a quarterback in the NFL, making one Pro Bowl in 13 years and the winner of one Super Bowl in 2008 with the Ravens.

However, his college coaching career is off to a rough start. His first season was in 2003, where he led UAB to a 4-8 record and ninth place in the ACC.

2024 hasn’t been much better. The team is 1-4, with their only win against Alcorn State. As of now, they are in 14th place in their conference.
