Fans in Disbelief as Falcons’ Disastrous 4th-Down Call Seals Defeat Against Chiefs

That play call on 4th and 1 from the Falcons didn’t have a high success rate

Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons had a chance to upset the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Sunday night. They trailed by 5 points with under a minute left in the game, facing a 4th and 1 at the 13-yard-line, with a go-ahead touchdown within reach.

What they decided to do to try and pick up that first down is receiving a lot of hate on social media.

Instead of sending all-star RB Bijan Robinson up the middle, or throwing a short pass past the sticks, Atlanta ran a sweep play out to the left that was blown up by Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton, losing several yards on the play. It never had a chance from the very start, and resulted in the Falcons losing, 22-17, and falling to 1-2 on the season.

Unsurprisingly, NFL fans and analysts online had a few things to say about the controversial play call.
