FOX Radio host makes outrageous Patrick Mahomes and Daniel Jones comparison

FOX Radio host Rob Parker compared Patrick Mahomes and Daniel Jones’ first five games of 2024 and concluded that they are essentially the same players.

The Kansas City Chiefs may be 5-0 after their latest win over the New Orleans Saints, but according to Rob Parker, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t had a great season. Parker even went on to compare Mahomes with the New York Giants Daniel Jones.

Mahomes threw for 331 yards against the Saints, but none of them connected for a touchdown. One might argue the Chiefs are shorthanded because of injuries to Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice, while Juju Smith-Schuster and Xavier Worthy slowly finding their rhythm.

It’s the brilliance of Andy Reid’s offense and a defense led by Steve Spagnuolo that has kept the Chiefs competitive. This is where Rob Parker singles out Mahomes.

I’m not talking about lifetime achievements or anything like that. When I look at Patrick Mahomes and his play, I think of Daniel Jones with a great defense. That’s what Patrick Mahomes has turned into. I know people don’t want to believe it and say, ‘Oh Rob, you’re being overly dramatic or dissing Patrick Mahomes.’ I’m not talking about legacy and career.

The veteran FOX Radio contributor indicated that the 3x Super Bowl winner is a shell of his former self and is currently playing at a similar level to Giants’ Daniel Jones.

Rob Parker provides proof for comparing Patrick Mahomes with Daniel Jones

To prove his point, Parker compared their statistics. Jones has thrown 1,138 yards, 6 touchdowns, and three picks this season. Mahomes has eerily similar numbers but worse in several categories—1,235 yards, 6 touchdowns, and six picks this season.

Additionally, the 2x NFL MVP averages 263.6 total yards, while Jones averages 249.2 total yards with a quarterback rating of 86.3.

There ain’t much separation. Patrick Mahomes is Daniel Jones with a great defense.

Rob Parker said on The Odd Couple radio show

It only goes to show the benefits of Coach Reid’s system. Mahomes can have an average season for his high

standards but still have enough options available for him to go on and win games.

The Chiefs’ offense is currently the 11th best in terms of all-purpose yards gained with 354.6 and 12 touchdowns. Despite the injuries to Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs have the 15th-best run game thanks to new additions, Kareem HuntSamaje Perine, and Carson Steele.

However, the biggest area that Reid needs his team to prove is the red zone conversion. The Chiefs are third from the bottom, completing just 38.9% of their chances in the final third.

This only proves the lack of deep endzone plays from Patrick Mahomes or perhaps the lack of faith in his receivers to catch the deep passes. That’s why Reid is running the ball more often.

Regardless, they’re the only unbeaten team in the AFC and are still finding ways to win games despite holes in the offense. They have a week off to fix the issues before playing the San Francisco 49ers in week 7.
