VIDEO: Colorado HC Deion Sanders Reveals Surprise NFL Team He Wants Drafting His Son, Shedeur Sanders

A lot can change between now and the 2025 NFL Draft, but currently, Colorado Buffaloes superstar quarterback Shedeur Sanders is widely projected to be a top-10 selection.

If the 2025 NFL Draft were to be held today, there’d be several obvious candidates to land Shedeur Sanders: the New York Giants with Daniel Jones on his way out, the Carolina Panthers if they give up on Bryce Young, and the Tennessee Titans if Will Levis fails to show any improvement down the stretch.

But Shedeur’s father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, recently hinted that he would like a surprise team to draft his son instead.

During Prime Time’s appearance on the “Nightcap” podcast co-hosted by Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco, Deion suggested that the Miami Dolphins would be an ideal landing spot for Shedeur Sanders:

“What do you do businesswise if you’re the Dolphins? Do you take a quarterback, which is what I’m saying, or do you say ‘Tua, let’s check this out, let’s see what we’re going to do.’ Is his health more important than that?”

The Dolphins signed Tua Tagovailoa to a four-year contract worth $212.4 million in the offseason. But Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in the team’s Week 2 home loss to the Buffalo Bills, and there’s no timeline on when he will return.

There’s also uncertainty about Tagovailoa’s future in football, as this was his fourth head-related injury since 2022. But given the structure of Tagovailoa’s contract, the Dolphins can’t realistically make a play for Sanders unless the former were to retire.

And currently, there’s no indicator that Tagovailoa is looking at walking away from football.

Shedeur Sanders Is Off To An Excellent Start For Buffaloes

Folks who expected a drop-off from Shedeur Sanders in 2024 couldn’t have been more wrong. He’s off to another dazzling start with a 70.1 completion percentage for 1,630 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions to go along with a rushing score.

The Buffaloes are off to a promising 4-1 start, highlighted by a 48-21 blowout win over the UCF Knights last week. Up next, they’ll host No. 20 ranked Kansas State at Folsom Field on Saturday.
