After Accusing Refs of Favoring Chiefs, Ex-NFL QB Shades Patrick Mahomes’ Poor Performance vs Falcons

The Week 3 game between the Chiefs vs Falcons is ongoing! And in the start, the Chiefs weren’t looking good. As a result, it brought chaos among KC fans and an ex-NFLer who first admitted his love for Patrick Mahomes & the team, but later called off the QB’s poor performance.

The Falcons former quarterback, Kurt Benkert, on his official X account on September 22, criticized Patrick Mahomes’ football game. He said, “Mahomes has not been playing good football this year.” This statement from him came after the 29-year-old QB’s Chiefs failed in opening their score board in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, the Chiefs were at 0 score, while Atlanta had 7 points in their pocket. The Falcons’ team kept Mahomes’ offense in check since the start.

Well, now we see it’s pretty obvious why Benkert said this about Mahomes and the team. But, contrary to this, Benkert’s previous statement came for the Chiefs talk about the team’s positive style. The former QB, again on X, accused refs for their favors, “I actually enjoy watching the Chiefs play football. I love their style and all of that. I don’t enjoy the refs sliders being set to 70 in favor of them. They don’t need help to win. They are one of the best teams in this league. Just call it EVEN and let the guys play.”

This statement from Benkert came after the Chiefs defeated the Ravens on September 5. Nevertheless, as they were trailing behind the Falcons, it created doubt among many Chiefs’ fans as well as Benkert.

As per the score by now, the Chiefs are currently facing off a close game against Atlanta. And luckily the Red team, who are wearing white-on-white this time, have improved their performance right before the half-time.

Patrick Mahomes found his star WR to get the score close to the rivals!

The Chiefs were off to a rough start on Sunday night, struggling to break through Atlanta’s defense. Patrick Mahomes, who is usually known to be so sharp, was unable to get his rhythm in the game. The worst part happened, when after throwing an interception early on, it felt like the Falcons had all the control now. But then on the second drive, in a moment that changed everything, Mahomes found his star WR Rashee Rice for a crucial touchdown, before the end of the second quarter.

This connection resulted in tying the game for the Chiefs with Falcons as kicker Harrison Butker nailed the extra point, leading the team to a 7-7 score. Now, with Rice as his go-to target at this game, Mahomes is ready to fight his way through Atlanta’s tough defense.

And by now, the Chiefs are ahead of the Falcons for the first time in the game, with 16-14 in the third quarter.
