Following an interaction with ICE, 37-year-old woman Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed in an incident that has been called ‘preventable’.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have now been operating in Minneapolis as part of the White House’s brutal crack down, but one interaction ended up turning deadly on January 7.
Following news of Renee Nicole Good’s death, the Department of Homeland Security claimed that the woman ‘weaponized her vehicle’ against the officers and went as far to brand the incident an ‘act of domestic terrorism.’
However, this rhetoric and version of events is currently being heavily scrutinized and argued against.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has said that the ICE officer who shot and killed the motorist acted recklessly and rejected federal officials’ claims that the officer had acted in self-defense.
Meanwhile, Renee’s mother Donna Ganger described her as ‘one of the kindest people I’ve ever known’ in an interview with the Minnesota Star Tribune.

Donna said Renee, who herself is a mom of three, was not an anti-ICE protestor, adding: “She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life.”
She also said Renee’s six-year-old son now had ‘no one else in his life’ aside his grandmother.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has since spoken at a press conference following the incident that resulted in Good’s death.
Speaking alongside US Customs and Border Protection Commander Gregory Bovino, she said that Good’s death was ‘preventable’ but went on to defend the use of force by the agents.
Noem said: “Any loss of life is a tragedy and I think all of us can agree that, in this situation, it was preventable.”
She also took issue with Frey’s comments and said: “He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
“It’s very clear that this individual was harassing and impeding law enforcement operations. This officer followed his training, did exactly what he’s been taught to do in that situation.”
A video of the shooting has now begun circulating on social media and Donald Trump has even taken to Truth Social to address the situation.
Trump said: “I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch.

“The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense.”
However, Mayor Frey said: “Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly, that is bulls**t.
“This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed.”
In a press conference he also demanded that ICE ‘get the f*** out of Minneapolis.
He added: “They are not here to cause safety in this city. What they are doing is not to provide safety in America. What they are doing is causing chaos and distrust.”
