Donald Trump really does not like the NFL’s new kickoff rule.
In 2024, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to voice his displeasure with the new NFL kickoff rules, saying, The new kickoff rules mark the ‘beginning of the end’ for the NFL.
The NFL changed its kickoff rules to enhance player safety while also encouraging more kick returns. One significant change was moving the kicking team’s players to the opposing team’s 40-yard line, with only the kicker starting at his team’s 35-yard line.
Just this month, Trump was back at it again, criticizing the rule. After referring to it as a “sissy” play in September, the President wrote on Truth Social, “I HATE WATCHING THE NFL’S NEW KICK OFF RULE.”
Now he is finally receiving some backlash over his words.

Kansas City Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub is going viral after he did not mince words when asked for his reaction to President Donald Trump’s recent criticism of the NFL’s dynamic kickoff rule.
Toub made it clear on Thursday that he doesn’t care what the president thinks about the play.
“He doesn’t even know what he’s looking at. He has no idea what’s going on with the kickoff rule,” Toub said, referencing Donald Trump.
