Nick Mangold wanted to live his life a lot longer than he got.
The former New York Jets All-Pro center died at the age of 41 on Saturday, the team announced on Sunday.
His tragic death had Rex Ryan crying uncontrollably live on ‘NFL Countdown.’ Ryan coached Mangold for six seasons while he was the head coach of the Jets.
Hours after it was announced that Mangold lost his life, it was revealed that Mangold died due to “complications” from kidney disease.
Mangold died on Saturday night after battling chronic kidney disease for nearly 19 years and was undergoing dialysis.
Nick Mangold’s Career Achievements In Football

Earlier this month, he brought light to his situation in a plea posted on social media where he appealed for a kidney donor.
He had asked his followers for a kidney donor with O-type blood and hoped for better days ahead.
Before his death, Mangold was a beast on the field.
Mangold won a national championship with the Buckeyes in 2002. The 2006 first-round draft pick was named a First-team All-American and a Second-team All-Big Ten in 2005. He was then selected by the Jets, where he spent the next 11 seasons.
As a Jet, Mangold made seven Pro Bowls while making back-to-back first-team All-Pros in 2009 and 2010.
Nick Mangold was a fan favorite and a beloved member of the Jets locker room. Nobody has ever had a bad thing to say about him, but life can be pretty cruel at times. Prayers are sent to his family and friends.
