Cam Skattebo Injury Update: Who Will Replace The Giants’ Breakout Rookie?

What looked like a breakout campaign for the Giants’ rookie running back Cam Skattebo came to a harsh halt in Week 8. Just when he was emerging as a dynamic threat in the backfield, Skattebo suffered a dislocated ankle against the Philadelphia Eagles, which is now expected to end his season.

With the injury, the Giants must pivot quickly, identifying who will fill the void and how this affects their running game and offensive identity.

Skattebo went down in the second quarter of the New York Giants’ game against the Eagles when his right ankle appeared to roll under him during a catch attempt. He was immediately carted off the field with an air cast and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Medical analysis suggests the injury is season-ending. A respected sports physician noted that with the ankle turned “outside the leg,” surgery is almost certain, and a return this season is highly unlikely.

The Giants officially designated the injury as a “dislocated ankle.”
