New York Giants cornerback Cor’Dale Flott was the victim of friendly fire while playing the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday and was ruled out of the game heading into halftime after taking a punch from his own teammate, Bobby Okereke.
Flott has entered concussion protocol on what has been a horrible day for the Giants, who had already lost rookie running back Cam Skattebo to a gruesome injury that expected to keep him out for the rest of the season.
The NY teammates were covering Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith on a pass late in the second quarter and would collide with each other while the WR escaped with the catch.
Slow-mo footage showed Okereke accidentally punching his teammate in the head and knocking him out cold, apparently in an attempt to knock the ball out of Smith’s hands.
“Bobby Okereke punching TF out of his own teammate🤦♂️,” one fan observed.
“Flott took a punch to the face from Okereke. He’s out of the game,” another shared.
“Bobby Okereke just punched Cor’Dale Flott in the face and knocked him out cold. Yeah, we are cursed,” a New York fan lamented.
The CB went into the locker room on the back of the hit and entered the NFL’s concussion protocol after being evaluated.
Deonte Banks and Korie Black picked up the slack in an already-depleted Giants secondary.
