Shilo Sanders Is Officially Done With The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Shilo Sanders’ time in Tampa Bay is up.

The former Colorado star has been waived by the Buccaneers just hours after throwing a punch at an opposing player in a preseason game, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter citing the safety’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, as the source.

Schefter tweeted on Sunday morning that the “Buccaneers informed rookie safety Shilo Sanders today that he is being waived, per his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey, who added, “we’re hoping he gets claimed on waivers.”

Sanders, who publicly ribbed his brother Shedeur over his legal woes following two police stops earlier this year, was ejected from Saturday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills after punching tight end Zach Davidson after they got tangled up on a play.

The strike was ill-advised, especially given that he was competing for a roster spot.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles branded the decision “inexcusable” while speaking to reporters after the game.

“You can’t throw punches in this league,” Bowles said, per the Bucs’ website. “That’s inexcusable. They’re going to get you every time. Gotta grow from that.”

Bowles would not be drawn into discussing a potential punishment or whether the ejection would impact Shilo’s chances of making the team’s 53-man roster. But the player hasn’t had to wait long to discover his fate.
