The Kansas City Chiefs are set to reunite with one of their former players, Derrick Nnadi, bringing him back as part of a trade with the New York Jets.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Kansas City has agreed to a deal with the Jets that will see the defensive tackle return, along with a seventh-round pick, in exchange for a sixth-round pick.
“The #Chiefs are trading with the #Jets to bring back DT Derrick Nnadi, per sources. Deal includes a 2027 conditional 6th/7th pick flop,” Fowler reported on Sunday.
The trade makes sense for both teams, given Nnadi’s presence on three Super Bowl-winning teams with the Chiefs, while the Jets recently added Harrison Phillips.
Derrick Nadi Surplus To Requirements In New York

KC has also been making moves recently, having traded Skyy Moore to the San Francisco 49ers last week.
As for Nnadi, he was probably going to exit New York in any case, as the Jets have brought in interior defensive linemen, making him surplus to requirements. The 29-year-old, who joined the Jets as a free agent on a one-year deal, registered five tackles in preseason, four of them assisted. He returns as a very familiar face, having spent seven seasons in KC, making 115 appearances. The former Florida State star has registered 233 tackles, eight quarterback hits and five sacks in his career.
He has also made 18 appearances in the playoffs, recording 38 tackles.
Meanwhile, last season’s Super Bowl finalists are facing scrutiny after having to explain why they kept quiet about a 2024 shooting incident at their facility that only made the news last week.
