Rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy has landed the Kansas City Chiefs in another off-field controversy after his arrest in Texas on an assault charge. Online jail records accuse Worthy of “ASSAULT FAM/HOUSE MEM IMPEDE BREATH/CIRCULAT,” which typically means he allegedly strangled a family or household member.
In response, a Chiefs spokesperson acknowledged the situation, stating, “We are aware of Xavier Worthy’s arrest and are currently gathering information.” Worthy’s camp has yet to issue a statement regarding the arrest, leaving many questions unanswered. Meanwhile, the NFL plans to investigate, as its Personal Conduct Policy mandates a minimum six-game suspension for assault-related offenses.
Another Potential Suspension Looms For The Chiefs

This situation adds to a growing list of concerns for the Chiefs’ receiving corps. Rashee Rice, another wideout on the roster, is already facing legal trouble after being charged with felonies related to a street racing incident. Now, with Worthy’s arrest, the team could see two receivers sidelined due to disciplinary actions.
Worthy had a strong rookie season, tallying 638 receiving yards and nine total touchdowns. His postseason performance was equally impressive, with 19 receptions for 287 yards and three scores. If suspended, the Chiefs must adjust their offensive strategy heading into the new season.
