A Houston Texans fan put together a viral video of Kansas City Chiefs players and head coach Andy Reid complaining about the refs, amid accusations that the officials favor the defending Super Bowl champions.
Throughout the 2024 NFL season, the Chiefs have frequently benefited from several highly questionable calls by the NFL refs. Fans’ accusations that the refs show favoritism towards Kansas City really ramped up in their Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans, following two questionable “Roughing the Passer” penalties on Patrick Mahomes and a missed hip-drop tackle call by Bryan Cook on Dalton Schultz.
Several Texans players and head coach DeMeco Ryans also complained about the officiating. Houston star edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. told reporters, “We knew it was going to be us versus the refs going into this game,” per ESPN’s D.J. Bien-Aime.
Texans fan and X/Twitter user @HoustonXans posted a two-minute video of Chiefs star players and coach Reid complaining about the officiating throughout the years.
The video features defensive tackle Chris Jones complaining about the refs after the Super Bowl 55 blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Travis Kelce after the 2016 Divisional Round loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Reid and Patrick Mahomes after last year’s regular-season loss to the Buffalo Bills (the Kadarius Toney offside game).

Show this to any Chiefs fan acting all high and mighty saying the whole “great teams don’t make excuses about officiating after losing” bullshit https://t.co/h9oCGubKqz pic.twitter.com/DmJCKNCdqK

he moral of the story? Both teams benefit and are negatively impacted by questionable NFL officiating. And yes, all 32 teams will publicly complain about the performances of the refs from time to time.
Kansas City Chiefs Face Buffalo Bills In The AFC Championship Game
The Chiefs will host the rival Buffalo Bills in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium, marking their fourth playoff meeting in five years. Kansas City has won all three meetings, including the 2020 AFC title game here at Arrowhead Stadium.
So you better believe that the refs will be under the microscope in this one. The last thing any real football fan wants is for the officials to dictate the outcome of a crucial game with a head-scratching call.
