ABC’s David Muir back on the air in noticeably looser jacket after he was ripped for ‘narcissistic’ clamps

ABC News anchor David Muir has resurfaced wearing a conspicuously looser bright yellow jacket while reporting on the Los Angeles wildfires — a day after being blasted as “narcissistic” and vain for using a clamp to spruce up his on-air outfit.

The host of “World News Tonight with David Muir” kicked off Thursday night’s show with his flame-retardant jacket completely unzipped as he broadcast from the fire-ravaged Pacific Palisades neighborhood.

At one point during the show, Muir even opted to ditch the jacket altogether and as he walked the burnt-out streets wearing a black fitted sweatshirt.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Muir’s infamous clothing pins made a return for his latest stand-up hit.

His jacket, though, appeared to be noticeably less fitted.

It comes after Muir caused a stir — and a flurry of negative news headlines — after he fronted the cameras late Wednesday with the waist-cinching clamp clearly visible on his back.

He was immediately roasted for his fashion faux pas — with many on social media mocking the anchor as “pathetic” and “narcissistic.”

“Nice Jacket Bro. Glad you look nice and svelte with those clothes line pegs, while our city burns to the ground,” one user wrote on X.

Megyn Kelly, too, joined the critics hurling a litany of insults Muir’s way as she ripped him for trying to make his on-camera fit more “svelte.”

“The abject vanity of this man,” Kelly said during Thursday’s episode of her SiriusXM podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show.”

She went on to eviscerate Muir for “pretending to be a fireman” while reporting from the scene.

Muir hasn’t publicly addressed his now viral fashion faux par, but ABC insiders said some at the network were “embarrassed and horrified” by the gaffe.

“His narcissism is quite large in the sense of this kind of thing. I like David, except for this part of him. Anderson [Cooper], [Chris] Cuomo wear all the [muscle shirts], but they would never wear this [during a wildfire],” a source told Page Six.

“It’s pathetic. All flexed muscles and posing. He’s actually ‘Zoolander’ meets ‘Anchorman.’ He forgets he is the face of ABC News, not Abercrombie & Fitch!” another source griped.
