The NFL is one of the biggest sporting leagues in the world. While there are several historic moments to cheer about, the NFL also has its dark secrets. One such dark scandal is the boat party scandal involving the members of the Minnesota Vikings team. What started as a normal police complaint soon turned out to be a full-blown misdemeanor that left the NFL red-faced.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Minnesota Boat Party scandal.
What Happened At The Minnesota Boat Party Scandal?
It all started with a woman complaining to the police about a group of men allegedly soiling her lawn on October 6, 2005. She also pointed out that the men came out of a ‘big shuttle bus limousine.’ Soon, investigations began, and a harrowing truth emerged. As per the reports, two houseboats from Al and Alma were allegedly hired on the night of October 6, 2005.

Setting sail on Lake Minnetonka, the houseboat had seventeen players from the Minnesota Vikings squad. As per the estimate, a total of 100 women were said to be present inside the two boats. Most of them were s*x workers, who were flown in from Atlanta. During the investigation, crew members stated that the Vikings players were spotted having s*xual acts with the women inside the boat. While this was surely one of the shocking turn of events, the Vikings players had to pay a hefty penalty for their alleged act.
What Were The Consequences Of The Scandalous Boat Party?
Soon after the news came into the limelight, the names of the athletes who were allegedly on the boat were revealed. Facing serious consequences for their actions, quarterback Daunte Culpepper, Moe Williams, Fred Smoot, and Bryant McKinnie were charged with disorderly conduct and lewd, indecent, and lascivious conduct, as stated in the court papers.
