VIDEO: Lions Star RB Jahmyr Gibbs Reveals How He Almost Joined The Dallas Cowboys In Shocking Admission

The Detroit Lions’ selection of running back Jahmyr Gibbs with the No. 12 pick in 2023 was controversial. It’s rare to see someone in that position taken so highly unless they’re a generational talent.

Of course, Detroit’s move has paid off, but Gibbs recently discussed a few other teams he thought would draft him.

Gibbs joined the “Richard Sherman Podcast,” where he and the former All-Pro cornerback discussed some of the draft process.

He admitted that he never expected to go to the Lions so early., while also saying Dallas was the more realistic spot later in the first round. Even the Bengals were a thought in his mind.

“Go to Detroit? No, I really didn’t expect that,” Gibbs said. “I mean, I knew they liked me. But when you go on a visit, I mean, it seems like they all like you. So, I mean, it was crazy. I knew for a fact that Dallas was going to get me at 26 if I was still there, and a couple other places like Cincinnati is going to get me.”

He’s not just in his second year in the league, and the Lion’s recent success could not have been without Gibbs, who had over 1,000 all-purpose yards and a Pro Bowl in his rookie year.

The Cowboys Are In Severe Need Of Someone Like Jahmyr Gibbs

The Cowboys are in the midst of a horrible 3-6 start this season and are currently third in the NFC East.

One of the worst aspects of their roster is the running back room, headed by Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott.

They have combined 137 carries for 545 yards, two touchdowns, and two fumbles.

Of course, if a player like Gibbs had fallen to them in the first round, it would be a different story.
