NFL Fans Are Drooling Over Patriots Rookie QB Drake Maye After Watching Him Throw A 60-Yard Dime To His Receiver With Just The Flick Of His Wrist (VIDEO)

NFL fans are drooling over Drake Maye’s jaw-dropping dime of a pass with the simple flick of his wrist during New England Patriots training camp.

The Patriots selected Drake Maye with the No. 3 pick after fellow quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels went first and second overall to the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders, respectively.

During Wednesday’s training camp session, the North Carolina product showed off his phenomenal physical skill set by delivering this beautiful deep ball (seemingly effortlessly) with a flick of the wrist:

Football fans were left in awe over Maye’s ridiculous throw:

Per ESPN’s Mike Reiss, head coach Jerod Mayo stated that veteran Jacoby Brissett is the starting quarterback heading into training camp. Brissett returned to New England on a one-year deal after spending last season with the Washington Commanders.

But as Mayo noted, Drake Maye could very well win the starting QB1 job if he flourishes in the weeks leading up to the season opener. New England opens preseason play with a home contest against the Carolina Panthers on Aug. 8.

The Patriots Will Be Patient With Drake Maye’s Development

New England is entering year one of a full-scale rebuild under their rookie head coach and de facto GM Eliot Wolf. The Pats are looking to move past the ugly end to Bill Belichick’s tenure, culminating in three losing seasons over four years following Tom Brady’s 2020 departure.

Belichick was criticized heavily for failing to put the proper coaching staff and players around former starting QB Mac Jones. The new Patriots’ regime will not want to waste the potential of another young QB in Drake Maye, so don’t be surprised if he sees very little action as a rookie.

Brissett has proven to be an adequate short-term starting QB around the league, as we saw with the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns. If Brissett can provide above-average play, the Pats have no reason to rush Maye into the starting role.
