KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Mitch Holthus, the Kansas City Chiefs’ longest-tenured and winningest play-by-play commentator, has been announced as the Chiefs’ 2024 Salute to Service nominee.
The annual award presented by USAA honors members of the NFL who show support to the military community. Finalists will be announced in January, with the award being presented at the NFL Honors show the week of the Super Bowl.
Holthus was born in Fort Lewis, Washington while his father served in the United States Army. Holthus supports U.S. troops through his work with groups like The Battle Within, which provides veterans and first responders with mental and behavioral health support. Holthus has also formed a connection at Fort Leonard Wood, fighting veteran suicide and more.
Previous recipients of the Salute to Service award in recent years include Joe Cardona, Ron Rivera, Andrew Beck and more. This year, fans are able to vote for the Salute to Service award. Voting is open now until November 30.
