An unlucky fan got drilled in the face with a football during the Iowa Hawkeyes’ victory over the Washington Huskies on Saturday.
The fan was a few feet behind the end zone, but he still wasn’t safe from the Iowa kicker, who hit him square in the face, putting an immediate stop to his animation as he went down as if he had been shot.
“That probably didn’t feel great,” FOX wrote as the caption to the video shown below:

“Someone needs to add the “Headshot!” Sound effect,” a fan joked.
“Got to keep your head on a swivel at ball games,” someone advised.
“Absolute dork hahahah,” another user laughed.
“The audible reaction from the crowd and the call in interview with the Iowa radio broadcast were AMAZING,” someone else said.

That last comment makes reference to the fan, who’s named Joe, being interviewed after getting hit in the face.
“What the heck happened?” he was asked.
“So, I see the kickoff, and the ball is coming really fast. I knew it was going over the end zone, and I knew it was coming right at me,” he explained. “So I put my hands up, but that ball’s going a lot faster than you really think it is and went right through my hands and it hit me in the face.”
