Robert Saleh is no longer the head coach of the New York Jets as they fired him following their loss against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite building a strong defense and a 20-36 record in the last three seasons, the Jets weren’t happy with him in the head coach position, and thus, they let him go.
Since the news became public knowledge, the franchise has been hardly appreciated for this decision as Saleh is counted among the best defensive minds in the league. Adding more flavor to it, a recent report revealed that Saleh might not be working with the Jets anymore, but he will be receiving paychecks for the next two years.
The former head coach is set to receive a financial settlement from the Jets that could amount to nearly $19,178.08 per day. On a monthly basis, this translates to $583,333.33, equating to a lucrative $799.09 per hour and $13.32 per minute.

The 45-year-old will receive a total compensation of $5 million this season from his five-year deal signed with the Jets in 2021, which equals the pay of the 12th highest-paid head coach, Nick Sirianni, according to Front Office Sports’ Rodney Reeves.
In the meantime, the Jets have named defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich the interim head coach until they find a replacement for Saleh’s position.
Robert Saleh reflects on time with Jets post-firing
Saleh was reportedly blindsided by the franchise decision to let him go, as he told the media following Week 5’s loss that he is not “panicked” and believes the team still has potential to achieve the goals they set for themselves. He bid goodbye with a farewell statement given to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
He expressed gratitude to the team and gave the team his best wishes for this season. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is said to be involved in the decision to fire Saleh due to their disagreements in recent times. However, the former head coach didn’t mention anything regarding his relationship with the veteran quarterback, even though it’s on everyone’s mind these days.
