ESPN commentator Troy Aikman claimed he was “in trouble” after his remark about Taylor Swift.
Former NFL quarterback Aikman was on the call with Joe Buck for the Monday Night Football clash on ESPN.
Buck and Aikman sat directly above where Taylor Swift was at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium.
The music megastar took up her spot in a suite to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce.
And Aikman fears he may have landed himself in hot water with a comment when she flashed up on screen.
“The missus likes it,” Aikman said after a big play from Kelce.
Tight end Kelce had one of his better games of the 2024 campaign after a slow start.
Aikman noted, “Travis comes off the line of scrimmage and starts to seem that he’s going across the field.
“Then he changes direction so well that you see it over and over, especially when Mahomes gets out of the pocket.
“It’s really the thing that he excels at to create separation for himself.”
His co-commentator Buck said, “Already a season high in catches for Kelce.”
And then he turned to Aikman to warn him, “You know they’re not married.”
A worried Aikman said, “I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that.”
Buck moved to reassure his co-commentator, after he was sent a warning by his daughters earlier in the day
“It happens,” Buck laughed.
“My daughters have warned me multiple times today, ‘Dad, I know you think you’re funny. Don’t make any jokes.'”
A wide shot of the stands then showed Buck and Aikman sat in the broadcast booth just a level up from Swift.
“She’s right down there,” the commentators said as they leaned over the edge and pointed.
Swift was at Arrowhead Stadium to cheer on Kelce having also been there for Week 1 and Week 2.
She missed two road games, Week 3 at the Atlanta Falcons and Week 4 at the Los Angeles Chargers.
But the music icon was back in the stands for a prime time clash at the Chiefs’ home stadium.
Kansas City won 26-13 to improve to 5-0 on the season in their bid for an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat.
