Rob Gronkowski has a ‘bold’ reaction to Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs seemingly getting favored by the referees in every game

During his years with the New England Patriots, Rob Gronkowski knows how it feels to be on the positive side of being favorites. Now after retiring, he has seen the Kansas City Chiefs take over as the best team in the NFL. With the way the Super Bowl favorites have been playing so far, the former superstar tight end talked about how certain things go the way of Patrick Mahomes and his teammates.

I would say so, I don’t really get calls. I mean I was double teamed, I was basically executed off the line of scrimmage half the time and five yards into the route. And then they would call pass interference on me when I was trying to get the guy off of me. So yeah, the Chiefs get way more calls than the Patriots.

The 4-time Super Bowl champion was a guest on the Up & Adams show. Host Kay Adams asked him with a sarcastic smile on her face if the Chiefs were benefitting from calls in the game than his Patriots.

Rob Gronkowski was clear that he did not get favorable calls during his time in the NFL. But he also did not refute Kay Adams’ jibe at Tom Brady getting favors from referees.

This interview was after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night. It happened to be the third straight game this season where some questionable calls went their way. That led to louder voices from fans and analysts as they have witnessed this happen over and over.

Rob Gronkowski felt that even if opponents were on his back while catching a ball, referees would not throw a flag. His words were pointing at the recent calls that benefitted Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs to face Chargers on Sunday Night Football

Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs may not need to rely on favorable calls in their clash against the Los Angeles Chargers. Their opponents are struggling with the injury bug as key players are listed as questionable or out for this contest. Most notably, is the situation surrounding QB Justin Herbert.

He is still listed as questionable, and no official communication so far has changed that. If anything, the Chargers’ young receiving core needs a reliable source to be able to build confidence. Against the surging Chiefs secondary, they would prefer Herbert’s accuracy than that of Taylor Heinicke. If Herbert does play, he would like both his starting offensive tackles to be present too.

Then there is the Derwin James situation that has fans scratching their heads. With other defenders out too, it seems Mahomes, and his teammates will have it easier than it would have been otherwise. The Chiefs could march on to their three-peat goals.
