The Michigan Wolverines looked like a completely different program from the one that won last year’s national title on Saturday against Texas, and Connor Stalions appears to know why.
Stalions was an analyst for the University of Michigan who allegedly bought tickets to future opponents’ games to scout play-call signals.
The NCAA investigation has led to coaching suspensions, which did not involve Stalions since he resigned from Michigan in November 2023.
As for the current team, Connor Stalions believes he knows what’s wrong with the Wolverines.
According to him, it has nothing to do with first-year head coach Sherrone Moore not being the right fit.
“Look at Michigan; you could easily blame this on Sherrone,” former Michigan staffer Conor Stalions began, speaking with CBS Sports.
“Well, let’s be real. Losing J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum, and 11 other draft picks to the NFL makes a difference.”
Connor Stalions added that he thinks the team is “just caught in transition right now,” and things will eventually smooth over in the coming weeks.
Something needs to happen soon so this year doesn’t become lost.
The Wolverines will look to get back on track against Arkansas State.
Former Michigan assistant Connor Stalions wasn’t without a job for too long following his disgraceful exit from the Wolverines over the sign-stealing allegations that cost him his position.
Stalions, also the subject of a new Netflix documentary in which he tells his side of the story, was hired on at Detroit Mumford High School.
Stalions has been volunteering as a defensive coordinator for the Mustangs since Memorial Day.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Connor Stalions was going to be the acting head coach of Detroit Mumford High School after head coach Will McMichael suffered a stroke last week.
Current Mumford athletic director Donshell English refuted that and told the Detroit Free Press otherwise.
“All the coaches are coaching the team,” he said.
Just last week, Mumford lost 49-6 to the Thurston Eagles in Connor Stalions’ first week as defensive coordinator.
The team was 1-8 in 2023 and 1-9 in 2022.
