NFL fans are in shock after an old Andy Reid story that resurfaced on social media today.
Andy Reid led the Kansas City Chiefs to their second consecutive Super Bowl championship last season, strengthening his case as the greatest offensive-minded head coach in NFL history.
Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have fronted an offensive revolution in Kansas City, complete with never-before-seen plays and calls with funny names (see “Jet Chip Wasp” and “Corn Dog” in Super Bowls 54 and 57, respectively).
And yet, it still feels like Andy Reid finds more and more ways to blow our minds with some of his crafty and innovative offensive play calls.
The MLFootball X/Twitter account shared a tale of coach Reid once taking a play call from a janitor, and it had football fans in complete shock:
WILD… #Chiefs coach Andy Reid once used a play that was given to him by A JANITOR that ended up being a TD
Janitor: “I got this play for you”
Reid: “OK, here’s a card. Draw up the play.”
‘And he drew up the play,’ and I go, “Dang, that’s pretty good.”ICON

It would be funny if it had been the play to win the Super Bowl, they should’ve game him a ring

Damn the Chiefs had janitors who could call plays better than Brandon Staley 💀

It’s indeed a true story, which Reid shared on the “Green Light with Chris Long” last summer.
Andy Reid said that on one occasion in his time with the Green Bay Packers (he was an assistant there from 1992 to ’98 with Brett Favre at quarterback), a janitor drew up a play call on a card. The Packers gave it a shot, and it resulted in a touchdown.
Just another story that proves the three-time Super Bowl-winning head coach is in his own class when it comes to play-calling on offense.
Andy Reid & Chiefs Are Going For First Super Bowl Three-Peat
The Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58 marked the first NFL repeat since the 2003 and ’04 New England Patriots. Up next, Reid and company will try to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls.
Kansas City will open their season with a home game against Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens in the NFL Kickoff Game at Sept. 5 at Arrowhead Stadium. This will be a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game that Kansas City won 17-10 in Baltimore.
