EA Sports is believed to have made a ridiculous sum from first-day sales of ‘College Football 25.’
Given the 10-year wait, said title had to be the most anticipated sports video game of all time. And it appears it was worth it for the publishers.
While EA hasn’t revealed how many copies it has sold or how much money it has made, there’s enough data to make an approximation, which is what the folks at BroBible did.
The game is not out for everyone yet, as it drops on July 19. However, people who preordered were able to play on Monday, though not everyone. Folks who paid for the deluxe edition, got the MVP bundle with Madden 25, or had early access via EA Play had the luxury of taking to the field from their couches as of yesterday.
The standard version will drop at midnight on Friday.
As for Monday’s launch, it was so huge, servers crashed shortly after it dropped, with 713,974 people playing online at 10:00 PM EST. And that doesn’t include users who were playing but not online.

‘College Football 25’ Numbers Suggest EA Sports Made At Least $89 Million In Preorders
Given that the early releases ranged from $100-$150, the outlet split the difference at $125, guessing that EA made at least $89,250,000. They surmise that the actual number could have been north of $100 million, possibly even between $150-200 million.
EA Sports really could have made over $100 million from early sales, even when you remove all the people who got it for free. Over 14,000 college players opted in to have their likenesses featured, and they all got a free copy of the game. Likely, a great number of them were online on Monday night.
Still, it’s probably safe to assume that ‘College Football 25’ is the highest-grossing sports game of all time when it comes to first-day sales. Many more copies will be sold when the standard version drops ahead of the weekend.
