Shedeur Sanders and his older brother, Shilo, had a field day trash-talking one another in practice after the Colorado Buffaloes’ season-opening victory over North Dakota State on Thursday night.
Shedeur Sanders had a field day against the Bison, completing 26 of 34 pass attempts for 445 yards, four touchdowns, one interception and 17 rushing yards in the 31-26 victory at Folsom Field.
Though Shilo Sanders led the Buffaloes’ defense with 10 tackles (six solo and one for a loss), his most notable play was an unnecessary cheap shot on North Dakota’s Barika Kpeenu that wiped out a third-down stop in the second quarter:
Deion Sanders Jr. filmed a hilarious trash-talking interaction between Shedeur and Shilo during a Buffaloes’ practice following the victory. It started with Shedeur calling his older brother “a dirty player.”
Shilo responded by telling Shedeur Sanders he’s, “Dirty for calling that pass play at the end of the game.” Shedeur then got the last laugh by poking fun at Shilo and the defense for giving up a Hail Mary (albeit one that fell well short of the goal line) on the final play:
Indeed, the Buffaloes let the game end closer than it should have. A late North Dakota TD cut the Buffaloes’ lead to five with 2:19 remaining, but two incomplete passes from Shedeur stopped the clock and forced Colorado to punt it back to North Dakota with 31 seconds remaining.
Cam Miller and the Bison set up shop at their own eight-yard line but moved to the 47 to set up a Hail Mary attempt. Tyler Terhark caught Miller’s last-second heave at the Buffs’ four-yard line, but it was well short of the end zone as Colorado held on for a five-point victory.
A Win’s A Win For Colorado
It certainly wasn’t pretty, and both Corado and Noth Dakota State looked rusty at times during the game. But Shedeur Sanders’ excellent performance led Colorado to a season-opening victory for the second straight year to begin the Deion Sanders era.
The Buffs will try to jump to 2-0 when they visit the Nebraska Cornhusker next Saturday.
