He was just starting a new chapter in his life.
Chris Payton-Jones sadly passed away in a car accident last Saturday. He was more known for his time with the Nebraska Cornhuskers in college football.
“Chris Payton-Jones, a former football star at Sandalwood High School who went on to play professionally and later returned to Jacksonville to become a mentor and successful content creator, passed away in an auto accident on Saturday night. Jones was 30 years old,” News 4 Jacksonville reported.

Payton-Jones’ sister, Clotea, told The U.S. Sun that her brother had just welcomed his daughter.
“That was my brother, my only blood brother, same momma, same daddy,” a heartbroken Jones said. “I’m devastated. I’m hurt. My brother is gone. I cannot even cope with the pain.
“He was excited about where he was in life, working with kids and the birth of his daughter. His daughter was born 3 weeks before he passed. He was just excited about being a father.”
Payton-Jones played 29 games with the Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Tennessee Titans from 2018 through 2021. He then played in the XFL and the UFL.
