Video: Adam Sandler Says Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Will Be Part of ‘Happy Gilmore’ Sequel

As Travis Kelce gets set to play his 12th NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs, he is also busy lining up jobs off the football field.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (starts at 1:00 mark), Adam Sandler revealed Kelce will be part of the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel.

Netflix announced in May that it had greenlit a sequel to the 1996 golf comedy. Sandler told Fallon they are getting ready to start production in a couple of weeks in New Jersey.

Happy Gilmore sequel has been teased by Sandler for several years. There were rumblings about Kelce being part of the new movie when he was spotted in Los Angeles wearing a Happy Gilmore hat.

It’s fairly common for athletes and celebrities to have supporting roles and cameos in Sandler movies. The original Happy Gilmore featured Lee Trevino, Verne Lundquist and Bob Barker. Lawrence Taylor, Michael Irvin, Bill Goldberg, Steve Austin, Kevin Nash and Dan Marino have all appeared in different Sandler productions.

Kelce showed off his acting and comedy chops as host of Saturday Night Live in March 2023. He will make his television series debut in the upcoming Ryan Murphy series Grotesquerie that premieres Sept. 25 on FX.

It was announced on Tuesday that Kelce will make his feature-film debut in the action-comedy Loose Cannons. He will also host the gameshow Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? for Amazon premiering on Oct. 16.
