The Dallas Cowboys were dealt a major scare on Tuesday afternoon when a fire broke out at their training camp hotel in Oxnard, California.
Per Patrik Walker of the team’s official website, the Dallas Cowboys announced in a statement that a fire broke out in one of the guest hotel rooms where the team is staying during training camp.

“There was a fire emergency in one of the guest rooms this afternoon at the team’s hotel in Oxnard, Calif. The emergency was contained to one room that was empty at the time, and there were no injuries. The Dallas Cowboys thank the Oxnard Fire Department and Oxnard Police Department for their quick response and reaction to the situation.”
The Cowboys are coming off a third straight 12-win season that ended with another disappointing playoff exit. This time, they were crushed 48-32 by the seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers at home in the Wild Card Round.
This marked the first time where a No. 2 seed lost in the Wild Card Round since the NFL expanded its playoff field to 14 teams in 2020. With the loss, the Cowboys’ NFC Championship Game appearance drought was extended to 29 years, too.

After the loss to Green Bay, owner Jerry Jones promised that Dallas would be “all-in” during the offseason. But he has yet to make one big splash in the trade or free agent markets, nor has Jones extended quarterback Dak Prescott (contract year), wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (contract year) or linebacker Micah Parsons.
CeeDee Lamb is holding out in hopes of securing a long-term extension. We’ll see if the Cowboys have this matter resolved before the regular season begins in 15 days.
Cowboys Have A Tough Test To Open Their Season
The Dallas Cowboys will be tested early in Week 1, when they travel to Cleveland to visit the Browns on Sept. 9. Fittingly, this is also where the Cowboys opened the 2008 campaign 16 years ago.
Not only does this mark a showdown of two Super Bowl hopefuls, but it’s also the debut of Tom Brady as an NFL analyst on FOX Sports. He’ll be on the network’s top commentary team of play-by-play voice Kevin Burkhardt and sideline reporter Erin Andrews.
