The Arizona Cardinals have confirmed the firing of head coach Jonathan Gannon following a 3-14 finish to the 2025 regular season.
Jonathan is the fourth coach to be fired since the end of Week 18, with the Atlanta Falcons parting ways with Raheem Morris on Sunday to get the ball rolling. Pete Carroll and Kevin Stefanski have since been fired by the Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns, respectively.
The Cardinals lost their last nine games to compile the aforementioned record, their last coming against the Los Angeles Rams.
Gannon went 15-36 during his time in charge of the team.
Team owner Michael Bidwill and general manager Monti Ossenfort are expected to speak to the media today.
Gannon exits despite the support he got from the locker room.
“Expectations were high for the Cardinals in 2025, but they were not met, and ultimately that cost Jonathan Gannon his job as head coach,” the team reported via its official website.
“The team announced on Monday morning Gannon was out after a 3-14 season.”
Gannon joined the Cardinals two days after losing the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023. A former defensive coordinator for the Eagles, his hiring was met with controversy.
The NFC East side was not happy after learning that he had interviewed with Arizona before the Super Bowl. That amounted to tampering.
The two teams swapped third-round picks for the 2023 NFL Draft as punishment.
