News: Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs suffered an ankle injury at the end of the team’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs suffered what’s pretty much the biggest loss of Mahomes’ career on Sunday, December 14, when the team lost to the Los Angeles Chargers, in a 16-13 final score, and were eliminated from the postseason. To make matters worse, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was injured in the final moments of the game, and video footage from after the incident is drawing a strong reaction.

During the final minutes of the game, Mahomes bent his knee in what a painful way, and he was spotted on the ground in pain. After the injury, he had to be helped off the field. This isn’t the first time Mahomes has occurred a knee injury, either. He has been dealing with his knee in the past few weeks, so it made it worse to take a hit from the Chargers, especially in a game the Kansas City Chiefs were on track to lose anyway.

After the injury, Mahomes went into the blue medical tent, and a few minutes later, he came out with the medical staff still helping him. The staff took him to the locker room, so it’s not a good sign that he wasn’t able to walk there himself. Now, the NFL world is reacting to his injury.

‘A New Era’ for the Kansas City Chiefs

The was the Kansas city Chiefs’ final chance to make it to the postseason. Even though they still have a 0.4% chance of making the playoffs after the loss to the Chargers, according to NFL research, that doesn’t’ really mean much, so they’re done.

“It’s going to be a long offseason and honestly, that might be a good thing. Plenty of time to reset, fix what needs fixing, and turn things around the right way. Turn every stone, ask the hard questions, and build it back stronger. Speedy recovery to all the injured players, specially QB1,” one commenter stated with a prayer emoji on the Kansas City Chiefs’ official social media page. “A new chapter starts now.”

“This season felt just off anyway. Every week was pain and just shots to the chest over and over,” another added. “Amazing nine year run. We will be back and now will have a good draft pick spot.”

Mahomes joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017, when the Chiefs drafted him as the 10th overall pick. He’s taken the team to seven consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances and the big game five times, winning three of those championships.
