Travis Kelce could be nearing the end of his career — which could force Taylor Swift into single-digit temperatures to support him and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Swift has been more guarded in her visits to Chiefs games over the last two years but has had a stellar attendance record at home. That is likely to include Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, would could slam the door on any postseason hopes for Kelce and the Chiefs.
The Kansas City Chiefs need a hot streak of victories to keep their postseason hopes alive, and they’ll need to get that started this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers in freezing weather conditions.
Taylor Swift’s Changing Attendance Habits
While Swift attended nearly every Chiefs game in her first season dating Kelce in 2023, she changed her habits the following year amid reports of security concerns. Swift stopped attending all away games — outside of the neutral site in the Super Bowl — but has been at all home games where she didn’t have a conflict with her schedule.
As USA Today’s Charles Curtis noted, Swift is expected to be in attendance on Sunday.
“So the question is: Will she be there for the Chiefs’ fourteenth regular season game on Sunday afternoon between Kelce’s team and the Los Angeles Chargers?” Curtis wrote. “It is a home contest, for what it’s worth, and as we said, Swift has only attended home games during the regular season last year and this year. So that could bode well for her attending, perhaps?”
While Swift watches the games with the Kelce family in their luxury suite, getting into the game could be a task. As the Weather Channel noted, the game is expected to be a frigid affair with sub-freezing temperatures and strong winds.
“Kansas City will be lucky to see a high in the 20s Sunday,” the outlet noted. “We don’t expect winds to be as strong as in Chicago and Cincinnati, but even a 5 to 10 mph breeze could make it feel even colder.”
KBMC meteorologist Nick Bender noted on social media that the temperatures will feel below zero inside the stadium.
“Chiefs fans! Be prepared for one of, if not the, coldest games of 2025 so far,” Bender wrote. “Wind chills Sunday morning will range from about -5 to -15 degrees. Temperatures at kickoff are expected to be in the upper teens, only climbing into the lower 20s during the game.”
Chiefs Face Do-or-Die Game
Sunday’s game has some huge significance for the Chiefs, who fell to 6-7 with last week’s loss to the Houston Texans. The Chiefs must win out in their four remaining games for a shot at the playoffs, and could face elimination on Sunday if the chips fall the wrong way.
If the Chiefs lost to the Chargers, the Buffalo Bills win or tie against the New England Patriots, the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the New York Jets, and the Houston Texans beat the Arizona Cardinals, then the Chiefs are eliminated from playoff contention.
Sunday’s game could hold extra significance for Kelce, who has hinted at retirement and would miss the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade.
