Democrats’ attack on Travis Kelce was a shock to everyone.
The Democrats just made a big reaction on Monday night after posting a video on X targeting Travis Kelce.
The clip showed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end dropping an important pass in Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans. They edited that moment alongside clips of Donald Trump looking tired and stumbling, and captioned it “washed.” And obviously, people quickly noticed it.
Kelce Fans and Taylor Swift supporters filled the comments. Many asked why Democrats were making fun of Kelce when Swift openly supported them in last year’s election. She endorsed Kamala Harris and joked about JD Vance by calling herself a “childless cat lady.” Trump also showed his anger and said, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” which only started the political tension around the couple.
Kelce didn’t endorse anyone last year. However, he met President Joe Biden twice after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl wins in 2023 and 2024. Some Republican critics often tie Kelce to Swift’s political stance. Monday’s tweet reopened that debate and added more drama to what has already been a tough season for the Chiefs.
Fans Push Back On The Travis Kelce Move
Once the video dropped, fans hammered the Democrats for the move.
One wrote, “Making fun of Travis Kelce when his fiancé is your biggest celebrity endorsement is an… interesting strategy.”
Another said, “What is this supposed to be? Who is your target audience here?”
Some people pointed out that the Chiefs’ inner circle is politically split. The Hunt family, who own the team, support Trump. Kicker Harrison Butker also supports Trump. Patrick Mahomes’ family usually votes Republican, and Brittany Mahomes even backed Trump last year, even though she’s friends with Taylor Swift. Trump later praised Brittany and said he liked her more than Swift.
Others called the Democrats’ video ironic. One person posted, “So let me get this straight… y’all are comparing Donald Trump to the Chiefs, the NFL’s greatest dynasty since Tom Brady and the Patriots, and trying to dunk on them… ”
Swift’s politics continue to spark debate. She said she endorsed Kamala Harris after Trump supporters used fake AI images to make it look like she supported Trump and also warned fans about misinformation and said, “I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior.”
Trump kept attacking her after the Super Bowl, claiming Eagles fans booed her. He wrote, “The only one who had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift.”
The Democrats haven’t responded to the scene. Kelce hasn’t commented either. But the political drama now follows him while the Chiefs try to save their season.
