A successful Olympian was found deceased in her apartment as the world is reeling over the details of how Daniela Larreal Chirinos passed away.
The 50-year-old, who made her name as a cyclist, reportedly had co-workers worried once she failed to show up for a shift at the hotel where she worked.
The authorities were called, and they headed to Daniela Larreal Chirinos’ apartment in Las Vegas on Friday.
That is when officers discovered Daniela Larreal Chirinos body.
It is thought she may have been dead since Sunday, which was August 11th. Her colleagues contacted authorities on Monday, August 12th.
Sources close to the investigation say Daniela Larreal Chirinos died from asphyxiation, The Mirror reported. The post-mortem reportedly found food in her windpipe, suggesting she died from choking.
The Clark County Office of the Coroner has not officially released a cause and manner of death.

A leading figure in the world of Venezuelan cycling, Daniela Larreal Chirinos, has broken many hearts with her sudden and tragic death.
Chirinos is widely known for participating in the speed cycling event in five Olympic Games, most recently in London in 2012.
She also competed in the Summer Games in Barcelona in 1992, Atlanta in 1996, Sydney in 2000, and Athens in 2004.
Despite not winning medals at the Olympics, the Venezuelan cyclist won several times at South American games, Pan-American competitions, and Cycling World Cups.
According to Wikipedia, Daniela Larreal Chirinos won a silver medal at the 1990 Central American Games in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and two more silvers at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
She also added three golds and a silver at the 2002 Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador.
