Philadelphia Eagles fans came together for a classy gesture after New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo had to be carted off with a gruesome ankle injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s game.
The unfortunate injury happened midway through the second quarter, after Cam Skattebo got tangled up with Zack Baun on a passing play. Skattebo was down for several minutes before getting carted off:
In a video shared by John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Eagles fans could be seen giving Skattebo a standing ovation as he was carted off:
Before the injury, Cam Skattebo had 12 rushing yards on three carries and one 18-yard touchdown reception. He came into Sunday’s contest with 398 rushing yards, five rushing touchdowns and 23 receptions for 189 yards and a receiving score.
The Giants already lost superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers for the season after he suffered a torn ACL in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterback Jaxson Dart has put together a tremendous rookie year despite Nabers’ absence, but it unfortunately looks like he’ll be down another weapon with Skattebo suffering a serious injury.
