Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are 0-2 for the first time in a very long time this season. Their poor start to the season has caused a stir among Kansas City fans. Now, their star tight end has received a huge punishment from the league.

NFL punishment for Chiefs’ Travis Kelce shocks fans and Taylor Swift

A letter arrived in Travis Kelce’s mailbox this week from the NFL’s office:

The Chiefs Pro Bowl tight end led the team in receiving with four catches for 61 yards in their 20-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday. But one of his biggest gains of the day reportedly ended up hitting him in the pockets for five figures.

Kelce dropped a goal line pass in Kansas City’s defeat that may have turned the tides in the low-scoring affair. However, it ended up getting picked and setting up an Eagles touchdown in the early-season Super Bowl rematch.

If there’s any silver lining, Travis’ fine is nothing he (or his fiancée) can’t afford. But it can’t feel good to have to hand over any money that you don’t have to — especially after an 0-2 start.

Per the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, “The NFL fined Chiefs TE Travis Kelce $14,491 for unsportsmanlike conduct/obscene gestures last week.” Adding, “The gesture was … well, you can figure it out,” alongside a clip of Kelce’s third quarter catch.

The league has made a point of really coming down on players for their on-field conduct when it comes to celebrations and this is just further confirmation of that.

Kelce was clearly gesturing towards his private area after hauling in the pass and stiff-arming a Philly defender on the way to a big first down. And while it seems relatively benign to some fans, Roger Goodell and the NFL’s decision-makers clearly feel differently.

“LMAO Trav got fired more than the dude that open hand smacked the s—t outta him?” a user wondered. “The NFL is so unserious.”

“Worth it,” another replied.

“But slapping/hitting a player is only $12k got it. F—k the NFL,” a fan said.

“Fined for this is crazy but he needs to remember that he has a wedding to pay pls,” a Swiftie posted.

“The gesture was goofy AF but I still think the league is over fining players for nonsense,” another person admitted.

“oh so this is worse than trying to premeditatedly and maliciously inflict head trauma on national tv after the play is over, got it, thanks.”

“and is josh allen gonna get finned for the finger gun?” a member of the Chiefs Kingdom asked.

Kelce and the Chiefs will attempt to pick up the pieces with what should be a bounce back performance against the similarly struggling Giants. That game will take place at MetLife Stadium on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” tomorrow at 8:20 PM ET.
