NFL fans are tripping out over a perfectly timed and viral photo of Baker Mayfield celebrating a touchdown with his Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates in Week 2 against the Houston Texans.
In Week 2, Baker Mayfield shook off a brutal hit that caused his leg to bend awkwardly and put together a surgical drive culminating in Rachaad White’s game-winning two-yard rushing touchdown in the final seconds.
Though Tampa’s thrilling comeback win over Houston on “Monday Night Football” occurred 11 days ago, a heads-up fan came across a perfectly timed image in the first quarter of that contest.
Trailing 7-0 in the first quarter, Baker Mayfield hit Ryan Miller in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown to cut Houston’s lead to one. After making it 7-6, Mayfield (No. 6) went to the perfect spot to celebrate the TD with running back Bucky Irving (No. 7) and offensive tackle Luke Goedeke (67):
Social media had plenty of epic responses to this image, including one comment that we’re merely living in a simulation.
“Inter-ception 😆,” wrote a user.
“Also 7:12. 6×2=12. “Quarter” has 7 letters. #7 is Bucky “Irving” 6 letters. #67 is Luke “Goedeke” 7 letters. And I think they are playing the Houston Texans. 7 and 6 letters respectively. Tin foil hat activated,” another commented.
“This pic just accidentally solved the meaning of life, football edition,” said a fan.
“The matrix broke,” wrote a user.
“Things like this are supposed to be kept in a museum,” another said.
Mayfield and the Buccaneers will look to improve to 4-0 when they host the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Tampa has signed 437-pound defensive tackle Desmond Watson to stop the Eagles’ signature tush push play, so we’ll see if that crafty plan works out.
Baker Mayfield Is Off To Another Excellent Start With Bucs

Mayfield has made it evident that he won’t suffer from the departure of former offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who left for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coaching gig. The 30-year-old is off to a dazzling start, with six touchdowns, no interceptions and a 99.5 passer rating in three games, per Pro Football Reference.
The No. 1 pick of 2018 had a career year last season with a 71.4 completion percentage for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He led Tampa to a fourth straight NFC South division crown, though they were ousted by the Washington Commanders in the Wild Card Round.
With Tampa Bay’s three division rivals combining for a 2-7 record through three weeks, it already looks like the Bucs are on their way to a fifth straight NFC South title. But they’ll be challenged aplenty over the next four weeks, with the Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions next on the schedule.
