Jerry Jones Announces The Dallas Cowboys Are Officially Signing Former First-Overall Pick After Beating Giants In OT Thriller

Former first overall pick Jadeveon Clowney is returning to the Lone Star State.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Jerry Jones told reporters that the Dallas Cowboys have signed Jadeveon Clowney after meeting with the No. 1 pick of 2014. The news came shortly after Dallas defeated the New York Giants 40-37 in overtime to move to 1-1 on the year.

The Cowboys’ defense was picked apart by Giants QB Russell Wilson on Sunday, allowing 506 total yards of offense, including 450 yards through the air. Help was needed on the defensive side of the ball following the stunning Micah Parsons trade, and Jones has it with a three-time Pro Bowler coming aboard.

Clowney was released by the Carolina Panthers earlier this offseason with one year remaining on his contract. The 32-year-old has also played for the Houston Texans (2014 to 2018), Seattle Seahawks (2019), Tennessee Titans (2020), Cleveland Browns (2021-22) and Baltimore Ravens (2023).

Through his first 11 NFL seasons, Jadeveon Clowney has 58 sacks, 32 pass breakups, 15 forced fumbles and one interception. He has tallied nine-plus sacks four times.
