This weekend, Australian fans can expect an exciting night as Dricus Du Plessis defends his middleweight title for the first time against two-time former champion Israel Adesanya. Ahead of their UFC 305 title fight, former UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski predicts that Adesanya will knock out Du Plessis.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, the former featherweight champion shared his thoughts on the matchup. Volkanovski also noted that Adesanya will be perfectly positioned to deliver a memorable performance. He said,
“I’m expecting a performance from Israel Adesanya, a proper performance like you’ve seen the Paulo Costa, where he goes out and just does it in impressive fashion.” He continued, “Dricus is very awkward, unorthodox, and he’s got awkward pressure, which is very hard for people to deal with, and we’ve seen awkward pressure from Strickland give Izzy problems, but that doesn’t happen to Izzy twice.”
Volkanovski expressed his surprise at Adesanya’s defensive approach in his previous fight, where he lost the belt to Sean Strickland. However, he believes Adesanya will have full preparation this time with no surprises. However, ‘The Great’ also mentioned that Dricus is a serious competitor.
