Troy Aikman’s Embarrassing Blunder On Live TV Left Fans Shaking Their Heads During ‘Monday Night Football’ [VIDEO]

Troy Aikman might need to study JJ McCarthy a little bit more before calling his next game.

The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who won three Super Bowls, was back on TV with Joe Buck on “Monday Night Football,”

Aikman, who left Fox Sports for ESPN in 2022, brings intense knowledge of the game. He and Buck have worked together for two decades, and their chemistry shows.

Monday night, they were on call for the Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings contest.

During the first half of this NFC North matchup, Aikman made an unfortunate slip-up when speaking about Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy.

Aikman accidentally referred to him as Kevin McCarthy.

Kevin McCarthy served as the 55th speaker of the United States House of Representatives.

It was a tale of two halves for JJ McCarthy.

In his first career start, McCarthy finished with 143 yards on 13-of-20 passing and three touchdowns. His lone interception was also a pick-six. His numbers weren’t sexy, but he showed to have a clutch gene.

McCarthy, who had questions surrounding his talent, narrowly silenced a chorus of naysayers on Monday night when he led his team to a thrilling comeback win vs. the Bears at Soldier Field.

McCarthy, in his first NFL start, flipped the script and scored three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth, one of which was a crucial scramble.

Social media went from roasting JJ McCarthy to being left in awe of his talent.

McCarthy had a 27-1 record as a starter at Michigan, so maybe he can continue his winning ways next week.

McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings meet the Atlanta Falcons at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday, in Week 2 of the 2025 season.
