AJ Brown was not himself last night against the Dallas Cowboys.
While his Philadelphia Eagles picked up the win, Thursday night wasn’t exactly a time for him to shine.
The All-Pro Eagles receiver didn’t see a target from quarterback Jalen Hurts in the first half of Thursday’s 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The first time he would touch the ball would be 1:51 remaining in the game. Brown caught a pass for an 8-yard gain on second down to set up third-and-3 as the Eagles sought to run out the clock.
AJ Brown’s catch was crucial as Philly was ultimately able to pick up a first down and then went into victory formation to seal the win.
Now, Brown is being blasted after overhead footage of a play in the first half shows his concerning route while Jalen Hurts was looking for him.
“This return route by AJ Brown might be one of the slowest routes I’ve ever seen,” an X user wrote.
“Something isn’t right with him. And if that’s true, why is he the 1st read in the progression on 3rd and 5? Nothing else is open, and Jalen bails the offense out again with another scramble,” the post continued to state.
In a game that featured Jalen Carter spitting on Dak Prescott to get himself ejected, you would think Brown would’ve at least wanted to show out for his dismissed teammate and against the team’s most hated rival.
AJ Brown Speaks Out After His Poor Performance

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown’s first catch of 2025 came with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter vs. the Dallas Cowboys.
This is a guy who’s made three Pro Bowls and tallied at least 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns in each of his three seasons with the Eagles.
After the game, he kept his response short and sweet.
“You know, that’s not something I can control,” Brown said after the game, per Penn Live. “What I can control is my effort for when the ball does come my way.”
When reporters pressed him on being targeted only once, Brown said, “That’s something I can’t control.”
Unfortunately, Brown’s lack of participation will certainly be a topic of conversation in Philadelphia despite them coming out with a huge victory.
