NFL Legend Cris Carter Reveals Crazy Story About The Time He Threatened To Punch Skip Bayless “In The F***ing Face”

Cris Carter has revealed having threatened to punch Skip Bayless in the face back when the veteran sports journalist was plying his trade at ESPN.

Carter, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and an eight-time Pro Bowler, discussed a near-incident he had with the former FS1 analyst that was quite similar to Bayless’ on-air argument with Shannon Sharpe in which the former had to ask the latter to put his glasses back on.

“I would come on there because Stephen A. and I were friends. I didn’t know Skip personally, and I’m gonna be honest with you: Skip Bayless is not one of my favorite people,” the former wide receiver said on his ‘Fully Loaded’ podcast.

He went on to detail how he pushed back on Skip’s praise of Tim Tebow, which earned him a personal shot from the latter.

“We’re trading barbs and everything. We go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth,” he recalled. “And then I just level said it and was like, ‘Listen, if throwing the football is important in the NFL, Tim Tebow will never be a starting quarterback in the NFL.’

So, he got defensive and then he came back and said, ‘Well, that’s why you didn’t win a Super Bowl,’ which got nothing to do with nothing.”

Cris Carter said he removed his earpiece when the show went into break, shot Skip Bayless an earful, and got up from the set as everyone tried calming him down.

“I told him, ‘I’ll never be on your show again, and if you ever say anything like that to me again, I’ll punch you right in the f****ng face.’”

Cris Carter Doesn’t Think Skip Bayless Believes What He Says

Carter also doubted that Bayless believes most of his own arguments, calling him out as fake and claiming he pretends to be an idiot to generate interest in his shows.

“I never thought he was authentic,” he added. “I never thought that I should take him serious … I’ve seen these arguments that are — you’d have to be a lunatic to believe what you’re saying.”
