As the football season approaches, so too does the release date for The Kingdom, a Kansas City Chiefs six-episode docuseries from ESPN, Disney+, and Skydance Sports.

This week, it was announced that the ESPN Original Series will premiere on August 14 on ESPN, ESPN+, and Disney+.

“The Kingdom” dives deep into the Chiefs’ legacy – from over 60 years of highs and lows to their incredible 2024 season. It will give fans never-before-seen access as well as a front-row seat to the making of a modern NFL dynasty.

Directed by Kristen Lappas (Giannis: The Marvelous Journey), the series is produced by the team behind “The Last Dance.”

In the mold of The Last Dance and The Dynasty, The Kingdom promises to unpack the Kansas City Chiefs’ long-standing impact on the NFL. Despite an impressive season, their storybook run ended in heartbreak, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the finale.

Episodes 1 and 2 will also air on ESPN at 9 PM ET August 14August 14 while all six episodes will be available on ESPN+ and Disney+ the same day.

“so this was the context on why 99% of the talking heads wanted them to 3 peat so bad.. oh well,” one fan said.

“I love how The Eagles ruin this little cute story lmao,” a second fan added.

“I’ve never seen a team get dogged so much for going to 3 straight Super Bowls and being closest in history to anyone to get 3 in a row. The amount of “fail” or “cope” comments is funny, how many have anyone else’s teams won or been to in a row, or recently?? You can’t expect a team to win them all, I’d say 3/5 years is pretty good. Keep up the jealousy, everyone wants to be KC so bad,” a third fan wrote.

“So, a documentary on how to come up short of history? Got it,” a fourth fan stated of the Kansas City Chiefs.

“ESPN has an affair with the Chiefs,” a fifth fan commented.

“Imagine being so confident the Chiefs were gonna 3peat, ya started filming an in-season docuseries on a team….then they get absolutely Curb-stomped and you invested so much in the project ya have to release it anyway. Without the Threepeat. Hilarious,” one final fan said.
