Shocking Video Shows Katy Perry Nearly Falling from Faulty Stage Prop Midair in Terrifying Concert Mishap

Katy Perry had a major scare while in San Francisco on Friday.
The pop star made a stop at the Chase Center as part of her Lifetimes Tour and was performing her “Roar” hit track when the butterfly-themed prop she was riding malfunctioned.
Perry was seated atop the rig, which was suspended in midair, when it suddenly tilted, forcing her to cling on as she slipped, with gasps coming from the audience.
The video below was recorded by a fan and shows the 40-year-old pausing, looking visibly shaken. She eventually signaled to the crowd that she was okay as the prop continued moving, resuming her performance.
Friday’s Malfunction Was Katy Perry’s Second In Less Than A Month

Friday’s incident marks Katy Perry’s second such malfunction in less than a month. She experienced a similar moment while performing in Australia on June 29, with a metallic sphere used for an aerial stunt tilting with her.

It also follows a similarly scary incident involving Beyonce in a suspended car just a day before Katy’s Australia mishap.
She took to Instagram after Friday’s show, sharing a blurry selfie of herself screaming on Stories, captioned “Good Night San Fran,” playing down the scare.

Still, fans have voiced concerns over the safety of such stage setups given the recent incidents, pointing out that they aren’t necessary, with the risk outweighing the reward.
Katy will continue her tour promoting her seventh studio album, ‘143,’ which will include stops in Seattle, Canada, Europe, and South America.
