NFL Reporter Receives Major Backlash For His Comments About Shedeur Sanders’ 21-Year-Old Prank Caller, Jax Ulbrich

The son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich admitted to a prank call to Shedeur Sanders during the NFL draft.

The 21-year-old called Sanders on Friday night, claiming to be New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis and telling him he’d been drafted.

Ulbrich saw Sanders’ contact info in his dad’s iPad and wrote it down.

The team said Jeff Ulbrich did not know about his son’s plan to deceive the young quarterback.

“The Atlanta Falcons do not condone this behavior and send our sincere apologies to Shedeur Sanders and his family, who we have been in contact with to apologize to, as well as facilitate an apology directly from Jax to the Sanders family,” the Falcons’ statement said.

Jax Ulbrich issued a statement and apologized publicly to Sanders, calling the act “completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful.”

One NFL reporter wrote about his apology and attempted to calm the anger of fans with his own statement.

“Jax Ulbrich, Jeff Ulbrich’s son, released an apology for his role in the Shedeur Sanders prank call,” Zack Rosenblatt wrote in part.

“I’m told he also reached out to the Sanders family directly to apologize. By all accounts, Jax is a good kid who made a mistake, and he’s doing what he can to hold himself accountable for what he did,” Zack Rosenblatt, an NFL reporter for The Athletic, shared.

“By all accounts, Jax is a good kid” is not what anyone wanted to hear after the 21-year-old cruelly pranked Sanders during the draft.

Social media made sure that Zack knew they were upset over his words.

“Jax is a good kid who made a mistake.” he’s 21, a grown man, stole sensitive information from his father to make a viral prank call that exploited what was meant to be the most life-changing call that Shedeur Sanders would ever receive… why are we treating him like a baby?” one fan said.

“Clearly not “by ALL accounts,” a second fan stated.

“A 21-year-old man is not a kid what,” a third person added.

“I don’t think he should be receiving any praise for apologizing. That should be a non-negotiable,” a final fan added.
