Val Kilmer’s final X and Instagram post before his passing has fans saddened.
The “Top Gun” actor died on April 1, 2025, at the age of 65.
Kilmer died Tuesday night in Los Angeles, surrounded by family and friends, his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, said in an email to The Associated Press.
The beloved actor—who starred in films like Top Gun, Tombstone, Heat, and The Doors—died from pneumonia, his daughter further stated.
One final post from him has fans in tears.
Val Kilmer appeared to be an art enthusiast, and his final social media post was a picture of a colorful abstract painting.
Kilmer captioned the picture: “It’s got that late-night glow. Cool tones with a low burn, like when the camp fire cools down but you’re still wide awake.”
He also described the dimensions of the piece, which appeared to be for sale on his website.

Val Kilmer has died at the age of 65. The actor was known for a plethora of roles that fans have come to love.
