San Francisco 49ers superstar wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk still needs a new contract as Week 1 approaches.
Last month, the 26-year-old Brandon Aiyuk grew frustrated with the lack of progress in contract talks and requested a trade from the 49ers. Though GM John Lynch hasn’t at all indicated that he’s open to moving his top receiver, he won’t have much of a choice if Aiyuk remains adamant about a trade.
For Aiyuk and the 49ers, it would be ideal if they resolved this matter ahead of Week 1. If San Francisco ends up trading Aiyuk, Lynch would have to pivot and make a move for another stud wideout (Tee Higgins, perhaps?)
Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler proposed a blockbuster trade idea that would see the 49ers send Aiyuk to the Washington Commanders in exchange for 2025 second and 2026 third-round draft picks:
“Washington boasts a pair of dynamic wideouts in Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson (the team also drafted Luke McCaffrey in the third round), but adding Aiyuk would elevate the group to arguably the best trio of wideouts in the game.
Aiyuk and Daniels’ relationship has been well documented this offseason, and if the Niners are to move their stud pass-catcher elsewhere, Washington could be the favorite to land his services.”
