Golf legend John Daly has a cringeworthy nickname for President Donald Trump.
The 58-year-old John Daly, a polarizing figure in the golf world, is a well-known supporter of President Donald Trump. The President of the United States has many friends and connections in the sport and owns nearly two dozen golf courses worldwide.
The PGA Tour and LIV Golf remain in active negotiations about a merger that has taken longer than expected to complete. The two tours, along with the PGA European Tour, announced in June 2023 that they were merging into one.
John Daly appeared on the “Rob Schmitt Live” show for Newsmax TV and gave his take on the golf landscape-altering merger. During the interview, Daly expressed gratitude toward Donald Trump and PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan for helping out in the PGA-LIV Golf negotiations:
“Golf’s a global game and everybody should have the opportunity to play … You’re born, you live, and what is it for? To make sure you take care of your family. LIV Golf is taking care of some people’s families, and that’s the way I look at it.
I just want Jay, and thank God that Daddy Trump is getting involved, because I want it to work out. Because I have friends on the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour, and I want them all to just play. The best players need to play.”
