Folks on social media noticed President Donald Trump trying to hide his hands from reporters, leading to some questions about his well-being.
Monday marked five weeks since Donald Trump was sworn in for his second term as President of the United States. The 78-year-old resumed office after defeating Vice President and Democratic Kamala Harris in the November election.
By defeating Harris, Trump became just the second U.S. President to be elected for two non-consecutive terms. The first was Grover Cleveland, who served from 1885 to 1889 and 1893 to 1897, with Benjamin Harrison serving as POTUS in between.
Over the past 48 hours, several people on social media noticed that Trump was trying to keep his right hand away from the cameras while speaking to reporters.

The White House later confirmed that he has a bruise on his right hand:
The White House just said the mysterious makeup-covered bruise on Trump’s right hand is because he is “shaking hands all day every day.”

Per Vaughn Hillyard and Megan Lebowitz of NBC News, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Donald Trump’s bruise was caused by excessive handshaking:
“President Trump is a man of the people. His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day. President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day.”
Trump was sworn in as the new President of the United States on Jan. 20. At 78 years and 220 days of age, he became the oldest POTUS to be sworn in, breaking the record previously held by Joe Biden at 78 years and 61 days.
Donald Trump Hasn’t Released His Medical Report Yet
Leading up to the 2024 presidential election, Trump was urged by the public to release his medical report. In August, less than four months before the election, Trump said he would “gladly” do so.
The 78-year-old president hasn’t done that, so the images of his bruised right hand have only escalated the public’s calls for him to release the medical reports. Needless to say, social media detectives will closely monitor the hand bruise in the coming days.
